Is the agency model dead?

The WAMA end of year debate format is back in action in 2025 with another spicy topic – is the traditional agency model in…or out?

The panel will unpack if it’s time to pivot to working with expert teams in-house or through niche partnerships, or if agencies are still the providers of expert creative strategy, media planning, and campaign execution that makes them stand out.

“We’ve been crying about the agency model being dead for years. While independents have reemerged, in-housing has taken off, but maybe it’s still around because we don’t quite know how to fix it properly. This debate will help us figure that out.”

Said Rene LeMerle, WAMA Chair, ahead of the event.

The stellar debate panel includes:

Affirmative

  • Hayley Boneham, General Manager – Marketing, Engagement & Partnerships, Ruah Community Services

  • Luke O’Sullivan, Senior Manager – Media Strategy & Planning, RAC

  • Georgie Frampton, Executive Director, KWP + Partners

Negative

  • Liam Loan-Lack, CCO, Keystart

  • Anne Gribble, CEO, Clarity Communications

  • Tim Newton, Creative Director, St John WA
