electriclime° held its first event, Spring ‘25 Young Filmmakers, in their new Alserkal Avenue space with a talk by Oscar-nominated director Dania Bdeir.
The award-winning filmmaker was the guest speaker for several invited film students coming from American University of Sharjah, SAE University College Dubai, Middlesex University Dubai and Zayed University UAE.

The event was the inaugural gathering at the new venue, which is set to host various talks and events focused on the intersection of art and commercial filmmaking.
Moderated by electriclime°'s Culture Curator, Omar Ibrahim, the night kicked off with a talk from Dania, exploring her background, how she started in filmmaking and her journey towards making her award-winning short ‘Warsha’.

The evening also included an insightful career advice session with Dania, who electriclime° worked with on a project for Estée Lauder, where aspiring filmmakers were able to ask questions and gain advice and guidance on moving forward in the industry.
After the talk the students were able to mingle to broaden their network, discuss ideas, and gain insight into the filmmaking industry. Meanwhile, a dedicated reel with the students' work was showcased on the electriclime° gallery screen to spark conversation and inspire connections.
electriclime° partners, Advanced Media gave away Sony cameras to two lucky students - the young filmmakers each wrote what they would use the camera for: from loglines for their next films, to concepts of projects they wanted to work on. Dania and the team then carefully went through the submissions and selected the two winners.
It served as an inspirational evening for the young filmmakers who were equipped with valuable tools and lessons which brought them one step closer to their ambitions.
Omar Ibrahim, Culture Curator at electriclime°, said:
“This night was about making the future of our industry feel important and heard, and I’m glad that the young filmmakers found genuine value here, with us.”
