AWARD Award Finalists Have Been Announced - Here's the WA Contingent
Who is AWARD?
AWARD, The Australasian Writers and Art Directors - is a non-political, non-profit organisation with a single purpose: to raise creative standards in all forms of commercial communication.
The 46th AWARD Award Finalists have just been announced and we wanted to highlight the WA finalists and tell you more about their campaigns.
Next up, Rare.
Rare - The Black Puppy for WA Primary Health Alliance
Finalist in the ADVERTISING | HEALTH & WELLNESS category, Health Awareness and Social Responsibility subcategory.
Taking a long-term approach, the goal of the campaign was to help people identify the early signs of depression in themselves, or in others, and seek help before they worsen.
Launching late 2024 after extensive research, the symbol of ‘The Black Puppy’, an early manifestation of the black dog commonly associated with the illness, allowed for these key symptoms to be communicated in a way that was simple, approachable and engaging.
Rare's research process included extensive primary and secondary research, including interviews and journaling exercises with individuals who have lived through depression, alongside interviews with GPs, providing insight from both lived and professional experience.
“In a sea of mental health messages, we wanted to ensure we weren’t contributing to the growing background noise. This campaign creates a powerful dissonance that’s hard to tune out and hopefully resonates with our audience as it has with the AWARD jury.”
Said Liz Hammond, Creative Director at Rare
