We Came, We Saw, We Got Grilled

Updated: Oct 27, 2021

Last night was an absolute blast!

We're so lucky to be able to attend events again, and after a 5 month hiatus and a pretty quick turnaround we hosted our first Grill The Marketer event since COVID last night.

What an incredible mix of people! Great to see our seasoned grillers turn out in force, but also plenty of new faces we hope will stick with us as we grow.

We got asked about everything from SEO v Content, email marketing, which social media platforms to use, and how do students learn more about marketing beyond the theory taught in institutions.

We did a little shout out to Adam Barrell, who's So Perth audience has recently clicked over 90k on Facebook and 56k on Instagram and heard a few words from him about his content trifecta. Nice to have a Perth marketing specialist of his caliber in the house.

There was food - ah the food! Snacks and pizza really hit the spot, and our new venue sponsors, Henry Summer did an amazing job of making sure we had everything we needed.

Here's some snaps.

What a gorgeous room! If you haven't been to Henry Summer, definitely check it out.

What is it?

We lend you our marketing brains and share our skills and experience with the audience - who are either marketers, business owners or marketers of the future.

Each event is different as we talk about what is important to who's there on the night.

Why did we create this event?

We had spoken to too many people who had attended a marketing event hoping to have their one specific question answered, who instead sat through a thinly-veiled sales pitch or a super scripted PowerPoint. Then by the time it finally got to the Q&A they missed out.

Bummer!

So we thought we'd make an event that was 100% Q&A, where attendees could just grill us on whatever they wanted.

So Grill The Marketer was born.

Where is it and how do I come to the next one?

As mentioned we host Grill The Marketer from Henry Summer, specifically the Oasis (which is literally the perfect name).

It's on Aberdeen Street in Northbridge (across from the 'Deen) and some of you may remember it as The Shed. It's certainly changed a lot since those days. As have we all...

If you want to come to the next Grill The Marketer, simply grab a ticket!

You can check out the Facebook event too.

Who can come?

Everyone is welcome!

If you're into marketing, or have a marketing challenge let's chat about it.

At last night's event we had a PR professional, a freelance copywriter, an HR consultant, a finance broker, an electrical contractor and a tour company - among others.

Everything from ecommerce to service based businesses and some marketing students keen to learn how to stand out from their graduating class to get ahead.

Thanks to

We need to say a HUGE thanks to Melissa for always being our tireless MC. She's so completely overqualified to be our MC and her input is always so generous we really don't know how we got so lucky.

Also a MASSIVE thanks to OG (Original Griller - he came to our first and every subsequent event) Keith, who not only bought along lapel mics for us to try capture better audio, but also ran the audience mic for us.

Then there's YOU.

Our attendees, who make the event have such a vibe!

Really, an event is only as good as the guests. So Thank you for coming along and being you.

What Else?

We have a pretty special guest next month. You'll have to stay tuned to our socials and sign up to our mailing list to make sure you find out who!

In the meantime, keep on being awesome!
