Mastercard has appointed Alexandra Sloane as Vice President, Integrated Marketing and Communications, Australasia

Mastercard has appointed Alexandra Sloane as Vice President, Integrated Marketing and Communications, Australasia

In this role, Sloane will guide brand strategy and integrated communications across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, partnering with business leaders to support Mastercard’s long-term growth agenda.

Working with Mastercard’s in-house marketing team in Sydney and its agency partners, Sloane’s remit spans B2B, partner and consumer marketing, as well as sponsorships and communications.

She will strengthen Mastercard’s presence across key customer segments and advance a multi-sensory marketing strategy across the division, while overseeing brand assets such as Mastercard’s sponsorship portfolio and the digital brand platform priceless.com.

She will also play a key role in ensuring Mastercard remains at the forefront as new ways to pay evolve in line with the company’s 2030 roadmap – from numberless cards through to its efforts in agentic commerce.

Sloane joins Mastercard from Optus, where she led brand, network, sponsorship and events. She previously headed Enterprise and Business Marketing at Optus and spent a decade at Meta in Sydney and Singapore, driving growth for Facebook, Instagram and Messenger across Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific. She also serves on the board of the NSW Parks and Wildlife Trust and advises Australian tech start-ups.

“Alex brings a rare mix of creativity, commercial acumen and leadership experience. She understands how powerful our brand can be when it’s connected to the right stories, experiences and partnerships. I’m thrilled she’s joining the team and I know she will play a big role in shaping how we show up for our customers and their communities in the years ahead,”

said Julie Nestor, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Asia Pacific.

“The payments ecosystem is undergoing a once-in-a-generation transformation, which makes it an incredibly exciting time to be working at the intersection of brand, technology and customer experience.
Mastercard is one of the most recognised and trusted brands in the world, and I’m looking forward to bringing my own unique experience to the table, working with the team to bring Mastercard’s brand to life in new ways for people and businesses across Australasia,”

said Sloane.

Sloane will report to Paul Monnington, Division President, Australasia, and Julie Nestor, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Asia Pacific.

Her appointment follows other recent leadership moves in the division, including Monnington stepping into the Division President role as Richard Wormald prepares to become President, Asia Pacific, and Megan Simons’ appointment as Country Manager, New Zealand and Pacific Islands, following Ruth Riviere’s upcoming move to Sweden to lead Mastercard’s Services team in the Nordics.
