WPP Media Leads Australian New Business Rankings in 2025

WPP Media has been named Australia’s top-performing media agency group in the latest COMvergence New Business Barometer (Q1–Q3 2025), reinforcing its market leadership and focus on data technology and AI expertise
The independent report, which tracks media account wins, retentions, and overall new business value, highlights exceptional results for WPP Media’s agencies: Mindshare, Wavemaker, and EssenceMediacom.
WPP Media secured the #1 position among all holding groups, achieving a reported total new business (including retentions) of AUD $273 million and reported net new business of AUD $189.4 million (excluding retentions). This performance places WPP Media well ahead of its nearest competitors, reflecting the group’s ability to win and retain high-value accounts in a highly competitive market.
As the industry continues to evolve, WPP Media’s agencies remain committed to driving growth, innovation, and value for clients across all sectors, including increasingly developing bespoke operating models and agency brands to suit complex client needs.
Mindshare delivered an outstanding performance with major wins and market impact, ranking #2 among all agencies with AUD $154.5 million in total new business (including retentions). Key wins included MG Motor and Citibank, as well as the win of Suncorp under WPP Media’s bespoke agency brand Open Era.
Mindshare’s success in both new client acquisition and retentions underscores its reputation for strategic excellence and client partnership under the leadership of Maria Grivas.

EssenceMediacom topped the agency rankings with AUD $163 million in total new business (including retentions). The agency’s wins included Lion and HBO Max and retaining Isuzu Ute Australia, and NRL. EssenceMediacom’s strong mix of local and global wins under Pippa Berlocher’s leadership highlights its ability to deliver integrated, results-driven solutions for clients.
